I can think of at least 4 jam sessions within 20 miles of here (2 bluegrass, 2 country/bluegrass). And there may be some others I don't know about. Ohio, Indiana and Southern Michigan are pretty active in bluegrass. Not a lot of publicity about it, but all you have to do is ask around and you'll find plenty.

Several years ago I went to Oxford, Mississippi on business. I flew into Memphis and got a rental car. While in Memphis I checked out a couple of music stores and asked about bluegrass. They said, "This is Blues country." Same story in Oxford.

I'm not in a group anymore and at my age I do most of my picking at home (on the front porch at this time of year). But if I were young and starting out, I'd be looking for all the jams and shows I could find.
