Found your group while trying once again, to research my guitar. I have a Vega, model VW93 SN00285 Martin copy Dreadnought. One interesting feature that I haven't seen much anywhere else, is the Bridge and Nut are both made of Brass. I have read where Martin bought Vega (which originated in Boston in the 30's) in 1977 and made mostly Banjos, some Mandolins and some guitars in a factory in the Netherlands. I found my Vega in an Oklahoma music store in 1985. It was used but in perfect shape and sounded great! Now I have read that these Vega dreadnoughts with the VW93 model, were built between 1984 and 87. But that would mean my used guitar was nearly new so I'm not sure I buy that. I also read that they had a lot of problems with the necks coming loose, and the wood on the top and sides cracking very easily. Well, I've had mine over 30 years and have seen none of that, it looks and plays as good as the day I bought it!
There is very little info on these guitars to be found on the web, does anyone here know anything more? My profile pic is of the sound hole, and I will post other pictures there. Thanks!
