A few months back I decided to make some new short videos. Some would be product profiles with sample solos that people could access from my website of my more recent books. Other videos would be lessons for mandolin and guitar.

In addition to shooting the videos I wanted to flex my editing muscles a bit and learn more about Preimiere editing software. I loved making the videos, especially the editing! Premiere is incredible. of course at this point I feel like I'm working with the very tip of the Premiere iceberg.

The recently posted videos can all be accessed through my musixnow website. (Since I'm new to Flatpicker Hangout I'm not allowed to include URLs until I've been posting awhile. I understand completely. If you're interested in seeing the videos now just search for my website "musixnow" or my name "Dix Bruce.")

One of the videos is called What is Crosspicking? In the course of writing books, articles, and columns over the last forty-some years I’ve received quite a few questions about crosspicking: What is it? Is it difficult? How do I get started learning to crosspick? If you haven’t heard or used the technique yourself you might have similar questions. If you’re an experienced crosspicker then you know what I’m talking about.

If you’re not familiar with the technique crosspicking is a somewhat advanced and beautiful way to play the guitar or mandolin. I’ve published two books about it: Old-Time Gospel Crosspicking Guitar Solos and Christmas Crosspicking Solos for Guitar .

To answer questions like those above and to hopefully encourage people to explore crosspicking I recorded a short video discussing and demonstrating how it’s done. What is Crosspicking?

I've posted a complete list of all the new videos in the "Blog" section of my website: musixnow.

Happy Spring,

Dix
