And My Education Continues! (in Autoharp Repair)

Well good morning kids!

I've been flatpickin away on my acoustic 7 string working with Wayne Erbsen's "Flatpicking for the Complete Ignoramous" and Joe Carr's "First Lessons Flatpicking".

And in addition I've been getting my right hand technique down for playing clawhammer banjo, & working on my bowing for fiddling.

One big thing I'm learning is no matter what stringed instrument you play, right hand is most important!

And I ordered replacement felts for my latest aquisition- an Oscar Schmidt Monterey 12 chord autoharp. Got it  "as is"  online and discovered that someone was in the midst of doing repairs and never finished. I have two chord bars that are stripped of their felt. So I ordered new felt & get to notch it for a C and Am chord respectively. This will be the 2nd one I've refurbed, and after this I can say I can refelt bars. I also have a 1963 O. S. autoharp I'm playing in the meantime. Once I get my Monterey into playing shape,I'll be auctioning off the 1963. And I can say that I can do autoharp repairs!

The heat & humidity have been keeping me home for the most part-and I'm getting cabin feverish. This  morning is a beautiful overcast sky-first we've had in awhile. Much needed weeding is on the agenda today for as long as the cloudy sky holds.
