A high-octane version of an excellent flatpicking standard I recorded over 8 years ago in a local studio. It doesn't hold back on the speed so hold on to something! Many interesting variations abound and I hope you enjoy it! --Jamey

Me and my friend, Brian Stephens, trading breaks on "Gold Rush". Brian starts off the tune with the first break, I take the second, and we swap back and forth until we get tired. Enjoy! --Jamey

Me and my friend, Brian Stephens, having fun with an old Flatt & Scruggs bluegrass number as a guitar duet. Brian is primarily in the right speaker and I am in the left. Brian is playing out of C position capoed up the neck while I am playing out of D position capoed two frets down so we don't step on each other's toes sonically speaking. Neither of us had ever played this song together before and we didn't rehearse one bit -- we just hit record and let the chips fall where they may. It turns out that Brian was used to playing it in D shape and I was used to playing it in C shape so we thought it would be fun to both be out of our "comfort zones" by swapping who played in C and who played in D to keep us on our toes. I think sometimes that's the best music -- unrehearsed and spontaneous. Enjoy! --Jamey

My friend Brian Stephens and myself messing around with "Red Haired Boy" - Brian kicks it off and we alternate breaks until the last round where we harmonize with one another. Enjoy! --Jamey

My interpretation of what "Salt Creek" might sound like if Doc Watson accidentally ate some LSD. Enjoy! --Jamey

A traditional tune originally from Ireland that was made popular in America during the War of 1812 (reportedly after hearing a British prisoner singing it) and again with Confederate soldiers during the Civil War. My favorite recording of this is probably by flatpicking virtuoso, David Grier, and my version is definitely influenced by his masterful work. I love this song as it makes for an excellent solo guitar piece via liberal use of chords, double stops and crosspicking-style rolls/fills that play around the melody in interesting ways. Definitely a great tune to pick up and add to your playing! I have also added my transcription of the first A and B parts to the Flatpicker Hangout TAB archive for anyone intersested in learning the basic arrangement. Enjoy! --Jamey
