Our Tribute to Doc Watson
The September/October 2012 edition of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine is now available. This is our special Doc Watson tribute issue. All of our contributors have sent in tunes that they were inspired to learn how to play after hearing Doc Watson play the tune. So, we have a lot of fantastic Doc Watson inspired music for you to learn in the pages of this issue.
In this issue you will also read thoughts, stories, and inspirational momements about Doc Watson by many of today's top flatpicking guitarists, including: Bryan Sutton, David Grier, Tim Stafford, Dan Crary, Andy Falco, Jim Hurst, Pat Flynn, Tim May, and many, many more.

I am the editor and publisher of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine and have been playing acoustic music on guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass for nearly thirty years. I've owned and operated my own publishing company since 1988 and owned FGM Records since 1997.
In conjunction with publishing Flatpicking Guitar Magazine, I also own FGM Records (fgmrecords.com) and Flatpicking Mercantile (flatpickingmercantile.com). Currently the record label, which specializes in various styles of acoustic guitar music, has produced 28 CDs and 4 live concert DVDs. Additionally we have produced instructional material for guitar and sell it through Flatpicking Mercantile. To date Flatpicking Mercantile has released four instructional books and nine instructional DVDs. In 2008 we started publishing a digital version of Flatpicking Guitar Magazine (flatpickdigital.com)
I also plays the upright bass with a number of touring bands. For the past several years I have worked primarily with the Brad Davis Band.
