Is there any risk of damaging the bridge if you put ball end nylon strings on a classical guitar? It sure looks like an easier way to attach the strings than wrapping/tying.
The guitar is a late 60s-early 70s Nippon Gakki Yamaha, model G170A.

Don't do it.

That's a pretty nice guitar for it's time. Probably has a laminated top, but could be solid wood.

Why would you put steel strings on it anyway. (That's what you are proposing, right? steel strings with regular ball ends?) The guitar is built for nylon strings and you could damage it with the tension of steel strings.

Learning to tie nylon strings is not that hard. There are plenty of online tutorials that show you how to do it. Do that and you won't regret it..

They make nylon strings with ball ends - that’s what I was asking about. In the meantime I purchased a couple of sets without them. Wish me luck!

Thanks for replying. This forum doesn’t get much action…

Willy Nelson uses La Bella ball end classical strings on 'trigger'- these have never hurt his guitar [playing or sound]. I've used ball ends in the past- tie ons seem to sound better though.
