Richard Bailey (of SteelDrives) taught me this on the banjo way back in 1977. I picked it out on the guitar from there. Also liked the way Dan Crary and Tony Rice played the tune.

Hey Robin,
Thanks for posting Red Haired Boy, I enjoyed that. I was also wondering what you used to record it. I have been thinking about getting something not too expensive. I think it would help me to listen to myself just to smooth out some rough spots and maybe try to get rid of some choppiness. And do you use the same device you recorded with to upload it to FP hangout? Mike

Thanks. I play this on fiddle. And I've heard (and I'm guessing you have too) some folks just race through this tune at a blistering pace, yet it is such a lovely melody that I prefer it picked slowly, or perhaps moderately. Nice job.

Nice, clean version! The ending sounds kind of 'spur of the moment' nothing wrong with that though. Your D-18 is sounding good. I remember this by Norman Blake also.
