Here is my first blog on the Flatpicker forum and I want to say that I think guitars are wonderful--but I don't have a collection--only two guitars--and that's pretty good for someone who doesn't even play guitar.
However, I am often surrounded by really good guitarists--and they sometimes talk me into going to guitar camp and taking guitar workshops from really excellent players. I also sometimes read my husband's copies of Flatpicker magazine because it is just plain interesting and I like to see their tunes and exercises.
My two guitars are an old red sunburst Gibson Dove--which I keep in an open tuning to frail, and a Recording King Sweethearts of the Rodeo guitar--which sounds really excellent for a $159.00 guitar--and I just love to play it because it looks soooooo cowgirl and matches my boots. :)
If I ever get another guitar--I'd like one of those little wooden National guitars with the koa wood and the pretty binding. I don't remember the name of the model--but they have them on Elderly Instruments--and if I ever have a real good bonanza year--I'd buy one. :)
My husband, Bob, who is a wonderful guitarist, plays a figured mahogany and spruce Ken Miller guitar with an Anhinga inlay on the peghead. He's ordered a second one in a smaller bodied guitar which should be ready sometime in 2009.
