I pretty much like all music except jazz which is way over my head and rap. I believe that one can learn from any style of music and then adapt it to your own playing style.

Played a little bit in the 70's then got married and had a family. That put the kibosh on any music for about 20 years or so. Got back into playing both banjo (5 string Scruggs style) and guitar (rhythm player and singer) in 2001. My best friend and I play in a little group we call Meat and Potatoes mostly in retirement homes and local festivals. And the joy of my life is playing and singing in the church we belong to, I belong to the Banjo Hangout and just today discovered this site via my buddy. I hope to learn how to play better rhythm and maybe even learn to flatpick a little.
