You may have heard of these and some of you may already be using them on your guitars. This is a guitar bridge plate saver and a tone enhancer all in one. I installed one on one of my guitars and it will stay on this guitar forever. I use it in combination with a Tusq saddle, ebony bridge pins and a Zero Glide Nut. I really love what all these parts in combination do for my guitars sound. I am getting lots of sustain and much better tone and clarity over stock parts. I even enlarged the sound hole just for the Tony Rice/Clarence White things and it actually helped this guitar out a lot. I love the tone so much that I felt like sharing.

I had a Mitchell's Plate installed on my Guild Orpheum (dreadnought slope shoulder) and it literally killed the sound of the guitar to my surprise. So I removed it very quickly. I must specify that the installation was done by a very competent luthier.
So apparently this accessory is not suitable for all guitars...

For about 5 years I owned a 1979 Martin D-18 that had a Plate Mate installed when I bought it. I don't know to what extent it affected the sound, because I never heard the guitar without it for comparison. But it was a nice sounding guitar, loud and somewhat bright, and would cut through nicely in a large loud jam.
