The other day. somebody was telling me that Cody Kilby is the greatest flatpicker in the world. Now, is that true, or just a rumour?

Well …. I'd have to say that is more a matter of opinion than of fact. He's good, very good …. but then so are Bryan Sutton and Chris Eldridge and a myriad of others … once a player reaches the 90th and above percentile in timing tone touch taste and technique who is "best" is pretty much irrelevant ....

I have to agree with Richard. Musical taste among people varies from person to person. So there are lots of different judgement criteria. And there is no lack of individuals trying to tell us what we should and should not like. In addition, many are spreading opinions that they have heard, not actually experienced. Close your eyes and let your ears make musical decisions.
In recent years, I hear some musicians who display outstanding playing technique, but musically, play music lacking in expression.

Can't say he is the best, let's just say that he is one of the players that have dominated the field.
