as part of the Uke & Guitar Summit
Jeff will teach Slack Key Guitar every morning from 10-12 and afternoon guitar and uke workshops.
Students will be introduced to various tunings including open G and C wahine, traditional Hawaiian songs, accompaniment, arranging, and finger style guitar technique.Elements of the tradition such as alternate bass, moving patterns, and Hawaiian ornamentation will be demonstrated in the arrangements of traditional songs. Tablature will be used in addition to learning by ear.

Recognized as one of Hawaii's most versatile musicians, Jeff Peterson is at the heart of the Hawaiian music scene today. His passion for the guitar and ukulele has allowed him to shine as a solo artist and has given him the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of artists from Hawaii, across the US, and abroad. His focus on Slack Key guitar, classical, and jazz music has allowed him to develop a unique and transcendent voice on the guitar while being deeply rooted in the traditions of his Hawaiian heritage. He has contributed to two Grammy Award-winning recordings and has been honored with five Na Hōkū Hanohano Awards in Hawaii. His solo CDs Slack Key Travels and Maui On My Mind were recognized as the Slack Key Albums of the Year in 2010 and 2014. Recent tours have been to Brazil, Venezuela, India, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, and China. Jeff has taught workshops internationally, ran the guitar program at the University of Hawaii for 7 years, and has transcribed over 100 pieces for guitar and ukulele that are available on his website at jeffpetersonguitar .com.
