Hey there!

A friend of mine since many years is finally getting married. She's very special to me, because we met in 1999 for the first time and just became such good friends, it was the first time I lived in Ireland. We had so much in common, and even found out we were born on the same day same year!! That was almost scary.

Sadly we sort of lost each other after I moved back home (to Sweden), and we both got sick with mononucleosis almost at the same time - I in Sweden, she in Ireland. I recovered but she didn't. She's had so much trouble over the years but the last few years things are much better. We met again very briefly during the second time I lived in Ireland, in 2008. Finally we got to see each other and catch up over a few days when I was over in 2011. After that we've been in touch on Facebook. I was bouncing with joy when I found out she had met a man and was going to get married.

Sadly I'm not going to be able to go to her wedding, and have been thinking of sending her a gift of some sorts, but have no idea what that would be. Finally, I got the idea that maybe I could record a song for her. My husband and myself play some together and what we do best is bluegrass-ish stuff. So, does anyone have an idea for a good bluegrass song that suits a wedding? Brainstorm me please!

My wife, my brother and I played this song, John's Waltz To The Miller at my other brother's wedding to Linda.  Nearly 30 years later, they're still together.

Just in case, these are the chords I use for John's Waltz To The Miller.  They don't seem to be posted on line anywhere.  Capo II to play along with Tony and Dede.

Forget those chords.  Maggie came in and helped me out.  It lays out better in A and there are a few other changes.

John's Waltz To The Miller   Tony Trischka & Dede Wyland

Here in my dream you are wandering, wandering,

Gold skies above you the warm earth below,

You are rocked by the breezes, warmed by the sun,

Moving to rhythms and songs to be sung.

Now we are dancing around we will go.

Music plays sweetly your face is aglow

With your love for the music, your love to be free.

Dance on forever, but only with me.

Thanks! Do you know if there is a recording somewhere with singing? It's rather difficult to sort of figure out the melody there.

The vocals start about 2 minutes into the video.

there's a special spot in my heart for the Annual Waltz. youtube.com/watch?v=uzS3K8Nv2OQ

are there any special times y'all shared that might be nice to revisit? I find songs to be bit like time machines, and that could be a nice thing to tap into
