 Tortoise pickguard. White binding. Too blurry to tell if there is herringbone purfling or not, but I think it is. Enclosed tuners - not a Vintage or Marquis. My vote is for HD-28.

No cord and no microphone visible. It would be interesting to know how what kind of mic they used to record the audio.

On second look, at the closeup around 1:28, it does appear to be a tortoise pickguard, so I'm going with HD-28 too.

Too good a shape to be a pre-65 D-28.  Isn't that when they changed from tortoise to black pick-guards?  But when the pick guard on my brother's '72 D-18 warped and came unglued, he replaced it with a tortoise guard, so you never know.

Like montanaokie, I'm impressed with the sound they got and was wondering about the mic.  I recall Pete Seeger's Rainbow Quest show had an overhead mic which would occasionally slip into the picture and the sound was terrific.  I still prefer to play with a mic, but am sometimes forced to use a pick-up.

I was wondering how Martin's model numbers work. Like for taylor I know that a 314ce is a grand auditorium with sapele + cutaway and electronics. I was especially confused at the differences between the D28, HD28, and the D28 marquis..

The letter in a Martin model number usually tells the size of the guitar.  All "D" guitars are dreadnought shaped.  The number tells the materials used in making the guitar.  A 28 guitar has rosewood back and sides, ebony bridge and board and iveroid binding.  This would be true of all three of these guitars.

The regular D-28 does not have the scalloped braces or the herringbone trim that the other two have.  All standard D-28s since the mid-sixties have had black pick guards.

The HD-28 has the herringbone trim, thus the "H", and scalloped bracing and a tortoise coloured pick guard.

The Marquis is an attempt to build a guitar with the pre-WWII features.  The D-28 Marquis has scalloped Adirondack spruce braces and forward-shifted X-bracing.  Martin has also given this guitar the specs on neck shape and tuners and herringbone trim and tortoise coloured pick guard of the pre-war guitars.  One major difference between the Marquis and a vintage pre-war D-28 is that the Marquis is made of Indian, rather than Brazilian rosewood.

I'm sure there are other differences and folks on the hangout who know more than I do about these differences.
