I think there is still a lot of debate over if this site should be the flatpicker hangout, or the acoustic guitar hangout. How about everyone vote by posting on this thread?

If you like the Flatpicker Hangout as it is, type "1" in your post.

If you want it changed to Acoustic Guitar Hangout, type "2" in your post.

Please do not write why, and please only vote once. Just type the number 1 or 2.

I came to this site because it is a site for flatpickers and for no other reason. There were good topics being posted untilall the crap about changing it started. I think the damage might have all ready been done and chased off all the old posters that made this site what it "WAS".

If you want a forum with your topics and your rules and your name, start a new one but leave the FLATPICKER HANOUT alone.

And no I can't follow the rules on this subject.

It's not about "saving the site" for you 3 or 4 people who want things to "change." It never has been. It's about CONTROL. You selfishly want to control the site to fit your desires. You can run around posting happy, positive comments on people's music, but it's all a means to an end: you want to change this site into what YOU want.

Your propsal has been rejected numerous times, yet you still keep at it. And I suppose you always will, since attention and control is what you really want. How pathetic. You will not act like mature adults and leave a site if you don't like it; you'd rather stay and cause trouble. How pathetic.

I think you're right. These guys are just spoilers. It was hashed out and decided months ago by the only person whose opinion counts that this will stay a flatpicker site. And now, if it can't be the way they want it, they're determined to ruin it for everyone with an endless stream of these idiotic threads. One guy tried it months ago when he was posting as Alexpnorton, and he annoyed so many people, and developed such a reputation as a troll, that he had to open a new account.

Yes, and heck I like flatpicking! If I would have come on this site ,, and it was active. and only about flatpicking , I would say cool, neat site . But I came on ,, and what could be a great site for acoustic guitar players was just having no posts hardly at all. I dont think anybody wants to get rid of the flatpicking ,, I sure dont. Only see a site that is fun , and friendly.

The fact that more dont post music or Youtubes of themselves , indicates to me that they feel a bit nervous about doing so. I dont care if you can only play 3 chords ,, you STILL have something to contribute. and in a good enviroment , you will grow. Aint nothing wrong about seeing where someones at , and appreciating where they are. We all start at zero.
We have all been around people who comment about your music "dont quit your day job" and they are mostly joking , but to a newb, it may be a death nail,, in what could be a fun pastime for them. Im all about the underdog,, if that wrong , I dont want to be right

Who made you the "activity" police? So what if this site isn't as "active" as some others? Why should that bother you? And why should that make you think you and 2 others should change the format of the site? If you're not happy with the activity level, why don't you find a site that has more so you can be happy? Why do you have to change the whole site just because you're not happy?

There are things you can do to increase the activity level. What you DON'T have to do is to try and change "Flatpicker" hangout to a generic "guitar" hangout. Why can't you just leave people alone and stop with the endless threads about changing the site? I agreee with Jack that you very well might have "chased off all the old posters that made this site what it "WAS."

Because you can't leave it alone, I'm starting to wonder what your real motivation is here. I still think it's control and a need for attention, but it could be something else, I don't know.

CC I understand that calling me selfish , and now a person who wants attention and power is designed to embaress me , and get me to go away. Its a tactic that will work on a lot of folk.
Honestly , when I came here, reading some post ,, not from just 3-4 "see guitar hangout ' people it looked like a good number wanted change and I could see how that would be a good thing ,, as dead as it looked. I didnt mind helping to bring about that change.
But if they arent gonna post , I cant do it for them.
I have nothing againt flatpicking or this site. Whatever you choose to believe.

I'm really sorry that you take this whole poll so hard. I wish you knew the real purpose of me starting this thread. No, it's not all the things you mention, and try to twist what I've said. It's exactly what I said it was: a poll. And oh, 3085 members vs. 4 votes? Did you poll all of them to see if they agree with you? I don't think you can really include that number in your data. It seems that the results are about even as of now.

I am not new to this site, or any other hangout site. I was the 4th member to join this site when it started, the very same day it started. I've added about 250 links to the link archive, and have posted on the forums quite a bit, too. And since the beginning, the member activity has stayed just about the same. As I see it, that's not good. We should be growing. Something needs to change. With this thread, I want to offer to see if this might be a good way to do that.

I hope that you and a couple other members won't resort to name calling or anything of the sort. And don't try another "you know you really meant this, not this, you just didn't say it." What I've written is exactly what I mean. There's not an ulterior motive.

At what point are you going to give up this little crusade you've been on? How many times will Eric have to step in and lock threads and say the matter's been settled before you stop creating these troll threads? When are you going to wake up and smell the coffee? Just because the same 3 or 4 people are able to make a lot of noise about it, month after month, thread after thread, it doesn't mean there is any groundswell of support among the membership for changing the site to "Acoustic Guitar Hangout." If the results of your own so-called "poll" don't convince you of that, I don't know what will.

One change I would like to see, and I might just start asking for, is tighter moderation. I'd like to see these troll threads, spawned by the same people over and over, just disappear altogether. They really make this site a much less pleasant place to visit.

Agreed. It DOES get tiresome that every month or two, the same 2 or 3 people start talking about wanting to change the site & starting threads to that effect. I'm sure that has turned off other members as well. I just don't understand why they won't either stop or go somewhere else.

Folks that enjoy it the way it is,, just keep posting the same.
Folks that wanted change, just pretend the name is different & post what you will.
Hopefully the flatpickers will enjoy themselves & fingerpickers will too.

In either case ,, heck , just post what your interested in and ,if anybodys interested they will reply. If not cool.
I think a few , including myself have got a bit irrate, & said harsh things,, and we should just let it all go & start over ,& no Im NOT trying to tell ANYBODY what to do. just trying to bring some peace to this.

I like this place "as is". Don't see how this site could possibly require anything to make it better (excluding a literacy screening, maybe).

This site has good, smart people for the most part and a good strain of topics.
