What is your favorite instrument(s) to flatter and backup some good flatpicking?

For me----I'd have to say that a good sounding, well played, upright, acoustic bass would be my 1st priority. After I get the bottom end I desire and someone to keep good time (in case I wonder out yonder somewhere), I probably would want another guitarist playing in another position. (for instance, I'm capo'd up 2 playing in a G position, I would want the other playing open in an A postion). A lot of times, that just "fills out" the sound. I like a well played mandolin, too. It takes care of the "snare drum" sound as far as rhythm---plus I always enjoy hearing those guys solo. I would prefer to have a good sounding dobro rather than a banjo-----(don't hit me---hehe). Not that I have anything against banjos, I just really like the sound of a well played dobro.

That would be my wish more thing.....I would wish that I could play some GOOD

ain''t no need to go see if it''s raining....just whistle in the dog and see if he''s wet!

Although my band is banjo and upright bass (with acoustic guitar) I'd have to say playing with a good mandolin player is a hell of a good time.

# 1. Upright Bass
# 2. Mandolin
# 3. Dobro - to fill the holes or add notes at a higher register.
