I've been wanting to tackle this tune for a long time and I found this excellent video of Doc Watson playing it. It looks like he's only using his thumb and index finger. Is that right? I'm more a banjo player than a guitarist, so I naturally want to use 3 fingers. I don't know, maybe that 3rd finger is messing me up.
Any advice to help me get through this one.

Doc plays the Merle Travis style. Both Merle and Doc plays with thumb and index finger. Most other people take also the middle finger when playing there songs.
