So I've been listening to a lot of Don Reno's guitar picking lately. I really like the style, so I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about it. What are some of his signature techniques that I could learn to play his style? Thanks!

Here's a link to the first in a set of four instructional videos on Don Reno's style, created by James Stiltner -- who is a member here at the Hangout. James has also posted YouTube videos of his playing a bunch of Reno solos, too. I've traded messages with him a couple of times since I've been here, and found him to be very knowledgable and helpful.

James is an amazing picker, both on an acoustic flat top Dove and a plugged in Tele. I always take the time to watch and admire his pickin'. It warms my heart when he is joined by his Grandpa, also playing a Dove.
When Don Reno came to the Jim & Jesse BG Festival in Kingston, Ontario a few decades back, he did a part of a set on guitar and blew us all away. I'm not sure how dependable this sliver of memory is, but I believe he was playing a Grammar guitar.
