Spruce/Rose/mahog gas is quenched. Looking for a mahogany top. Limited cash, anything out there under $500?

<description>Just picked a GUILD D-4, in great condition at a pawn shop in NEaverton OR, for $175. I never had a Guild before. Did I get taken?

Changed the strings to medium martins. Adjusted the truss, it is very playable now. Any suggestions for strings. The sound has not open up yet.

Thanks

<title>rosewood dread</title>
<author>eric@flatpickerhangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/12204</link>
<description>Just testing the waters to see what might be lurking out there. All mahog so far but would like to poss get a rosewood backed dread. On a budget, however....just seeing what may be out there...as I don't want to drop a lot of bills and then not like it...

Another thing. I really like the boom of the DX1RGT (even if it is HPL backed, it sounds good to me)...maybe I really just want the same sort of sound only a LOT more of it....does that make sense? Do any of the lower line Martin's boom and roar?

Merry Christmas...

<title>Daedalus Rig</title>
<author>eric@flatpickerhangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/11994</link>
<description>Hey all, so i'm considering selling off my live touring rig. It consists of:

Daedalus C-81 Cab
Daedalus 4 space rack
Rane ap 13
lexicon mx200
furman power conditioner
halfer p1500 power amp

I wanted to post here on the hangout because i also have a pretty specialized pickup/mic system i've been using. Basically i had an audio technica ATM-350 mic wired into my input jack with a schatten pickup under the bridge and ran these both into the rane, which if you're familiar with the ap 13, they allow blending and eq of a mic and pickup.

So! I'd love to see this whole she-bang including the pickup and mic go to another player! It would make the most sense considering the customization i've done.

I'm not doing much traveling by land these days and can't fly with this gear so have decided to part ways. I put these pieces together myself over quite a bit of time and they are all immaculate and road tested!

I'm flexible on price due to the large number of items, and will consider all offers,

Please let me know if you have any questions!

cheers!</description>

<title>New Mechanical Guitar Tone Amp</title>
<author>eric@flatpickerhangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/11924</link>
<description>I just posted an ad in the parts and accessories section of the classifieds for our new mechanical Guitar Tone Control Amplifier (&quot;Guitar Tone Amp&quot;). The new tone amp was changed based on important discoveries made this summer which changed all our products. The new guitar tone amp has dual surface wave collectors for high and low frequencies and also dual high and low frequency audible sound emitters in the sound chamber. It is shown in the ad on the jumbo guitar that we used to develop it.

Please visit our totally revised website (www.geigeracousticdevices.com) because it has been updated with a complete explanation of how the new Guitar Tone Amp works, as well as our new mechanical tone amps for mandolins and banjos and how they work. The site also introduces our new internal amplifier and tone enhancer for fiddles. The most recent entry on the Blog page describes the discoveries made this summer.

The site still lacks PayPal &quot;Buy Now&quot; buttons and a couple of things on the Products page, but it is 95% complete with a ton of information about sound surface waves which I think you will find interesting. - Especially on the two Theory pages and recent entries on the Blog page.

Please mention Flatpicker Hangout if you buy anything.

<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/11510</link>
<description>Has your guitar strap almost dropped or dropped your guitar? Yes, it has! My old one did, too.
I'm offering one that won't drop your guitar. They come in Black, Brown or Tan and you can get a curved one or a straight one.

They are $58.50 and can also be personalized.

In response to an email:
My website will be updated this week with more photos. The standard one is up to 52&quot; adjustment but I'll make it longer or shorter for you without charge. The colors are black, brown and tan although I've gotten a request for a pink one that I'm working up. Any degree of personalizing can be done. From stamping your name to elaborate hand tooling.

<description>I have a 1965 000-18 Martin I have had since youth. Economic conditions have forced me to part with this treasure and I am wondering what it is worth.

I just got it back from the Martin repair shop where I had the neck reset, a couple small cracks repaired and had it completely gone over with a fine tooth comb.

Any information that anyone could share on it's value would be very much appreciated.

<title>F/S Martin Custom D Rosewood</title>
<author>eric@flatpickerhangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/10306</link>
<description>I am selling my Martin Custom D rosewood guitar. It is a great guitar. The reason I'm selling is that there are other things that are imperative that I buy at this time. All solid wood just not as glossy. I have changed out the tusk saddle with a nice Martin bone saddle. also replaced the plastic bridge pins with bone. It is on sale now at Musicians friend for $999.00 (regularly $1100.00) I am asking $850.00 for mine. It comes with a Martin hard shell case. It's about a year old and is sounding great! Feel free to email me with any questions.

<title>Kaufman DVDs in Classifieds</title>
<author>eric@flatpickerhangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/10300</link>
<description>I decided to list the Steve Kaufman DVDs in the Classified section. Picking Up Speed and Flatpicking Banjo Tunes for $35 shipped (paypal).

honeydo has first dibs if he's still interested. If I'm not mistaken, mdsmith wasn't interested (too advanced).

I was just interested in trades (for mandolin material) before, but methinks it will just be easier to sell and buy. I can be more picky that way. [:)]

<title>New Guitar (and Mandolin) Tone Amp</title>
<author>eric@flatpickerhangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/9855</link>
<description>I just posted an ad in the &quot;Parts/Accessories&quot; Section of the Classifieds for our new mechanical guitar tone control amplifier (patent pending) which we named &quot;Multi-Booster&quot;, (because it works in mandolins and other instruments). The new tone amp is $25 - less than half our previous model, and it performs better and is easier to use. The comments in the ad and the drawing (click on it to enlarge it) describe how the tone amp works in detail. Briefly here, the tone amp is suspended in the guitar's sound chamber to an optimum depth on a loop of waxed, braided cotton cord. Sound surface waves are captured on the cord, both on the guitar's top plate and at the sound hole edge and then travel down the two loop sections of cord to the tone amp in the sound chamber where the inaudible waves are amplified, timbre-modified, and converted into amplified audible sound. The result is increased volume, better sound quality (because harmonics are greatly amplified) and an easy ability for the player to control the guitar's timbre (or &quot;tone&quot; or sound &quot;character&quot;). The tone amp also allows easy balancing of the guitar's different frequency ranges (highs, lows, mid-tones) by attaching different sized amplifying metal loops (included) to the cord portion on the top plate -without removing the tone amp from sound chamber. &quot;Multi-Booster&quot; is easily moved to other instruments so you only need one if you have a room full of guitars!

I'll be happy to answer questions about Multi-Booster either on this thread or in a private message.

We just received a new Bourgeois Vintage D with Adirondack top and Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. This is one of the nicest sets of Brazilian I've seen in some time, not slab cut or rift cut but nicely quarter cut! The fit and finish are as we expect from anything coming from Bourgeois...beautiful. This guitar is destined to become a coveted piece in your guitar collection. Please check out our listing with price and specs in the classifieds!

<title>FS: 1983 D-18V</title>
<author>eric@flatpickerhangout.com</author>
<link>http://www.flatpickerhangout.com/topic/9031</link>
<description>My friend, Chris Brashear, is selling his 1983 D-18. It's a real goodguitar and I thought I would spread the word for himl. The guitar is a 1983 D-18V. It is significant to know that in1983 Martin issued the vintage series of guitar for the 150th anniversary (1833). These guitars were signed by both CF Martin III and CF Martin IV on the label. They are real fine. Here's his information below. Thanks.

I'm selling my 1983 Martin D-18, Limited Edition Series, signed by
C.F. Martin III and C.F. Martin IV. I consider the guitar in good
condition, with some finish wear noted after over 25 years of playing.
I hand-picked this guitar from three in the series back when it was a
newly minted instrument. It is the guitar I used on my Wanderlust
recording. As with all D-18s, it has Mahogany back and sides. It has a
Spruce top and Ebony fingerboard and bridge. It is tonally rich and
complex. If interested, please e-mail Peter McLaughlin at mcpeter@aol.com.
Price is $1850.00 or best
offer.
