The heaviest celluloid picks I can find are about 1.5mm thick (most company's extra heavy are approx. 1.2mm, but I have found a couple in 1.5mm). Does anyone know of any thicker, perhaps up to 2.0mm in celluloid? I really like heavier picks in general. My Red Bears are 1.6mm but the casein material feels heavier than what it is (to me). What I recently tried was to glue two regular heavy guage celluloid picks (Fender 346, approx. .95mm each). This put the overall thickness at 1.9mm. I sanded them smooth, evened out the edges so as to be "one" pick (actually made it into a tri-tip shape), and then beveled them to my style. They came out very nice and I love the extra thickness in the celluloid material. They are not as bright as the casein, but these sound very good for a slightly warmer tone. I would like to find some celluloid picks in this thickness so that I don't always have to make my own. I guess it's kinda cool to have my own homemade picks, but it would still be nice to find some already made... Does anyone know of any? Thanks.
