Hey all: I'm studying up on my jazz guitar-fiddle duets, and of course Eddie & Joe are the first place to look. Eddie used a lot of rich, full chords — perfect for a single accompanist. Also, he used a lot of higher voicings, which one would think wouldn't be good for that format, but being the genius that he was, they sound great.

Does anybody know where I can get access to charts for some of these voicings? I've got a few of them down, but others elude me.

And: Does anybody have the tab for the kick-off to "Feeling My Way"?

Thanks all!

73, Brennen

I downloaded Eddie Lang's book from Djangobooks.com. Mike Horowitz has built a great site.

There are numerous online sellers of used books. You can find nearly any old book for the right price. This book of Eddie's has long been out of print and would probably cost a pretty penny but is a very good and detailed book. (As you can see on the cover, it only cost one dollar in its original printing!)

I think it might have even been reprinted at one time.

Best Regards,
Tom

Description:

Eddie Lang (1902-1933) was the worlds first great jazz guitarist. Hes one of the few guitarists who can claim to have had a significant influence on Django Reinhardt. Langs brilliant chordal work laid the foundation for jazz guitar. Also, he was arguably the first jazz guitar soloist. His influence is clearly present in many of the guitarists who came after him: Django, Charlie Christian, etc. Eddie Langs Modern Advanced Guitar Method documents Langs incredible fret board knowledge. It includes hundreds of examples of his chord shapes, arpeggios, and lead lines. An invaluable resource for any guitarist, especially one trying to emulate Langs brilliant chordal work. Additionally, Ive found many of the chord voicings and arpeggios are similar to that of Django. Also includes a transcription of his chordal accompaniment for Joe Venutis classic Doin Things. 80 pages. Includes chord and arpeggio diagrams.
