Hey all: I'm wondering where I can find good recordings of the great acoustic guitarists of the 30's (besides Django & Eddie Lang, whom I have a large databases of), such as Carl Kress, Dick McDonough, & George Van Eps. I know all three made many recordings in the 30's but I'm having trouble finding recordings on which they're playing solos, barring a couple of the duets that Kress & McDonough did, which I found on Youtube (& I have the 2 that Kress & Lang did). I especially love the pre-Django single note style of McDonough, I'd love to hear him improvising on some of the standards.
Thanks!
73, Brennen

Check out Lonnie Johnson, and Karl Farr. I think there's some collections with both. Seems like I saw a you tube video of the Farr's? I think the Kress pressings are all that are known. You might troll projects like the Mississippi Shieks and Gus Cannon. Their guitarists were sometimes jazz guitarists, passing for blues and jugband guitarists.

Check out 'The Cat's and the Fiddle.' Austin Powell is one of the guitarists, Tiny Grimes played tenor.
